The Japanese word "Gaman" translates to "enduring the seemingly unbearable with patience and dignity." Gaman encourages perseverance and patience—qualities essential in the kitchen. Don't be surprised if you come across the hashtag #gaman in my blogs and recipes; it's a reminder to keep going, even when faced with challenges.

Cooking Tips for Asian Food

Japanese Omurice is one recipe I had to learn to make adjustments to

One of the biggest things that I learned while living in Japan is how sometimes the Japanese people cook things in different ways. That makes sense, right? Cooking different food in a different country means that they will cook the food differently.

Ingredients are often different and you may not know where to get those ingredients. Sometimes the recipe will call for a specific type of cooking utensil or pot or pan and you may not have that. I live in a small town and sometimes I have no idea where to look for ingredients.

The amazing thing about cooking is that sometimes you are able to adjust and make things work with what you have. I am always looking for the easiest ways to make something, so I'll be able to help you find alternatives to things if you don't have them.

The bottom line is, I want to help you build confidence while cooking Asian food. I'm going to help you by providing easy Asian recipes and help you with cooking tips.
